Children's day centre
"Atsigręžk"
Children's home "Atsigręžk
į vaikus" started to run the project "Occupation Centre for
Waif Children" in 2003 which was supported by World
Childhood Foundation (Sweden). This project was renamed into
Children's day centre "Atsigręžk į vaikus" in 2005. At that
time the project got additional financing from Ministry of
Social Security and Labor of Lithuanian Republic and
children from socially risk families from Naujininkai region
started to attend this day centre.
The main goal
of day centre is to
provide day care social services to at risk children and
their families from Naujininkai district and to children
living in children's home "Atsigręžk į vaikus", to help the
children enter modern society.
The tasks of day centre:
1) to
develop children's healthy life skills and root self care
values,
2) to
develop children's skills for active and healthy life,
3) to
broaden children's outlook, to improve and modify children's
behavior,
4)
to develop children's artistic and creative
capabilities,
5) to
develop children's social skills,
6)
to develop children's learning motivation and to raise their
academic achievements,
7) to
improve children's relationship with their biological
families.
Specialists working in day centre:
In 2008 from 1st of April until 1st of July 3 students
Jane, Ian and Russell from Sheffield Hallam university
(Great Britain) had practice in children's home. They
organized many different activities for children,
participated in excursions, field trips.
